The primary function of the program is to assist in providing advisory services to the Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) First Nations communities in the field of alcoholism and/or addictions and provide capacity building through the use of training programs. The KTC National Native Alcohol & Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) Advisor  provides a total of fifteen  certified training programs and an assortment of workshops and presentations to the KTC First communities on a request basis.  The KTC NNADAP program have continued to focus on an ongoing basis to deliver updated training initiatives and to provide the necessary support toward the reduction of high levels of alcohol and other substance abuse, build the capacity within the communities to develop and deliver culturally appropriate community based additions services, increase awareness and understanding among the First Nation Citizens about alcohol and substance abuse issues as well as awareness and promotion of alternative healthier lifestyles (i.e. traditional values, individual and family wellness values, etc.). In addition, the program looks at strengthening links between community-based programs and residential treatment and provide support to individuals and families of individuals in post treatment as necessary and upon requests.
