As a young person, making decisions about alcohol, other drugs, and gambling is more than just dealing with peer pressure. There are a number of reasons why youth might contemplate trying substances or gambling that range from curiosity to trying to cope with uncomfortable feelings or problems. Beyond facing the need to make decisions about your own drug use, you may also be recognizing the signs of a problem with substances or gambling in a friend or even helping someone in your household face the challenges addiction brings. Without experience, it’s hard to know what to do and how best to help those around you who may be in trouble.

Learning how to confront these challenges is important, not only to create a strong foundation of healthy choices, but to know how to access support and practice self care when those around you may be struggling with alcohol, other drugs, and gambling.
