American Addictions Centres

The American Addiction Centers provides detailed plain language information on a variety of topics, including basic information on co-occurring disorders and their treatment, as well as treating depression with a co-occurring substance use disorder.

The Boston Trauma Center

The Boston Trauma Center is a non-profit organization committed to working with children, youth, and families who have been impacted by trauma. The website provides information on client services, research, training, as well as related publications.

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network website contains information for parents, caregivers, and professionals who are involved with children and adolescents with trauma issues.

 The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

The Substance Abuse and Health Services Administration’s website which includes information on trauma and provides several links to specialized areas.

The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies

The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies website which provides a forum for the sharing of research, clinical strategies, public policy concerns and theoretical formulations on trauma around the world.

 The Child Trauma Academy

The ChildTrauma Academy (CTA) is a not-for-profit organization based in Houston, Texas working to improve the lives of high-risk children through direct service, research and education. The website offers resources, publications and trainings on child development and nuturing after a trauma.

Trauma Informed Website

The new Manitoba Trauma Information and Education Centre (MTIEC) website, www.trauma-informed.ca , is a virtual resource centre for service providers looking for information on trauma, trauma recovery and trauma informed practices. The website offers access to important information on current events, new developments and research in the field of trauma. The website will be available in both official languages.

A new edition of the MTIEC’s popular Trauma Tool Kit is now available and can be down loaded for free from the MTIEC website. This second edition includes important information that every staff person or volunteer in a social service or health care agency should have including a new self assessment tool and checklist. The Toolkit will be available in both official languages.

Trauma Recovery Website

Within the trauma-informed website is a site dedicated specifically to people affected by trauma. While this website, www.trauma-recovery.ca , is not intended to be a substitute for counselling it is intended to support people whom; may not have access to resources in their community, may not yet be ready to ask for help, or to compliment resources that people may already be accessing. The website includes videos, and other interactive features that provide useful information that help people to better understand the affects of trauma. It also offers tools that support recovery.

Online Trauma Training

Klinic Community Health Centre, in partnership with Saint Elizabeth Health Care, has developed a new online training, “Trauma Informed Relationships – Building Safety and Trust”. While this interactive training was designed with special attention to service providers who are working with Aboriginal people both on and off reserve, this training will be of tremendous benefit to any service provider who has an interest in becoming trauma informed regardless of who they serve. New Directions

New Directions is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1885 in Winnipeg, MB.  Over time, New Directions has evolved to better meet the ever-changing needs of  children, youth, adults and families as they chart their own course within the community. As part of this initiative, New Directions has compiled an extensive collection of resources related to trauma.  These resources are freely available, and cover a broad range of trauma-related topics.
