The ChildTrauma Academy (CTA) is a not-for-profit organization based in Houston, Texas working to improve the lives of high-risk children through direct service, research and education. The website offers resources, publications and trainings on child development and nuturing after a trauma.
The new Manitoba Trauma Information and Education Centre (MTIEC) website, www.trauma-informed.ca , is a virtual resource centre for service providers looking for information on trauma, trauma recovery and trauma informed practices. The website offers access to important information on current events, new developments and research in the field of trauma. The website will be available in both official languages.
A new edition of the MTIEC’s popular Trauma Tool Kit is now available and can be down loaded for free from the MTIEC website. This second edition includes important information that every staff person or volunteer in a social service or health care agency should have including a new self assessment tool and checklist. The Toolkit will be available in both official languages.
Within the trauma-informed website is a site dedicated specifically to people affected by trauma. While this website, www.trauma-recovery.ca , is not intended to be a substitute for counselling it is intended to support people whom; may not have access to resources in their community, may not yet be ready to ask for help, or to compliment resources that people may already be accessing. The website includes videos, and other interactive features that provide useful information that help people to better understand the affects of trauma. It also offers tools that support recovery.
Online Trauma Training
Klinic Community Health Centre, in partnership with Saint Elizabeth Health Care, has developed a new online training, “Trauma Informed Relationships – Building Safety and Trust”. While this interactive training was designed with special attention to service providers who are working with Aboriginal people both on and off reserve, this training will be of tremendous benefit to any service provider who has an interest in becoming trauma informed regardless of who they serve. New Directions is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1885 in Winnipeg, MB. Over time, New Directions has evolved to better meet the ever-changing needs of children, youth, adults and families as they chart their own course within the community.
